Trend Analysis
Only a single measurement is available. The reticulocyte count of 1.6% falls within the normal reference range (0.5–2.5%), but this is clinically significant: in the context of severe Anemia (hemoglobin was markedly low at the time), the reticulocyte count should be elevated as a compensatory response. A "normal" reticulocyte count during severe anemia represents an inappropriately low marrow response, indicating underproduction anemia rather than peripheral destruction or blood loss.
This finding is consistent with the Aml diagnosis — the leukemic marrow is unable to mount an adequate erythropoietic response to anemia.
[!note] Additional measurements needed
Serial reticulocyte counts during and after chemotherapy cycles would help assess marrow recovery. Consider requesting with future CBC panels.
