Trend Analysis
Folic acid was >20 ng/ml (above the upper limit of the reference range 3.10–17.50) on 2025-11-17, during the initial pancytopenia workup ordered by Dr. Mithun Padmanabhan. This effectively rules out folate deficiency as a contributing cause of the macrocytic anemia and pancytopenia.
The elevated level may reflect dietary supplementation or simply adequate folate stores. Combined with the iron profile from the same date (see Iron Profile), this workup helped narrow the differential for pancytopenia toward a bone marrow process rather than a nutritional deficiency.
